In the summer of 1996 we opened the doors in our little shop in the quaint New England town of Monroe, Connecticut. Our shop consisted of one small work area and a small showroom that showcased our designs, giftware, and gourmet foods. We specialized in custom gift baskets, and delivered locally and shipped all across the country. In 1997 we launched our web site and enjoyed a brisk internet business. After three years we realized that we could not possibly fill our orders and work comfortably in our small space, so in January of 2000 we moved into a large non-retail space. While we've come a long way since we started, some things have not changed. We are, and have always been committed to providing top quality gift baskets to your recipients. Like so many gift basket sites out there, we are not "basket brokers" who sit and write orders for a third party to fill. Each one of our baskets is put together when you order it. We don't pull a basket off a shelf that has been sitting in a warehouse for 6 months to a year. That's not a fresh basket with fresh product! We happily substitute items in your basket. It's easy to do when they are made to order. Have you ever placed an order with a company on the internet and had a question or needed to change your order right after you placed it? You email them and you don't hear anything for days? That's poor customer service and something you won't find with On-A-Whim. Your emails are top priority with us. During normal business hours your emails are answered promptly, almost always within one hour and usually within minutes. Weekends? Yes, we check our email all weekend long and you will receive a response within 24 hours. Again, normally the response time is much shorter than that. Of course you can call us at 800-899-0959 and speak with one of our representatives. If we are on the phone helping other customers, you will be redirected to our voice mail system. Please choose option #1 to leave a message with our customer service department. If you leave a message we WILL call you back that same day, usually within the hour. We are proud of our company, and of the gifts and gift baskets we sell. We're small enough to care about that one single order for a $40.00 gift basket, but large enough to fill your corporate order for 100 gift baskets.
